7-year-old dead after receiving ‘injuries involving a vehicle,’ sheriff says

Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape said the accident happened on Porter Road near the intersection of Westside School Road around 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

BLECKLEY COUNTY, Ga. — A seven-year-old is dead after a vehicle-related accident, according to Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape.

Sheriff Cape said that the accident happened on Porter Road near the intersection of Westside School Road around 6:20 p.m. Friday. He added the child “received injuries involving a vehicle,” but could not comment further on the situation, as the case was turned over to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Cape said that he asks the community to “remember the family, keep them in your prayers.” He told 13WMAZ that no one would be charged in the accident.

Bleckley County Primary School shared a photo on Facebook of the child, noting how heartbroken they are about the loss. They said school counselors will be available for anyone who may need assistance or someone to talk to.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and all who knew this beautiful child,” the post read. “We will remember his bright spirit, sweet nature and incredible work ethic. He will always be close to our hearts.”

Other schools, including Pulaski County Elementary, reached out and offered their condolences as well.

13WMAZ reached out to GSP for further information. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
