A Warner Robins man was arrested over the weekend in connection with the death of his girlfriend, who police say was murdered.
The man, 23, was arrested Saturday following the killing of Michaela Chaney, 23. of Warner Robbins.
He is not being identified because he has not been formally charged.
According to Warner Robbins police, Chaney’s vehicle was found Saturday abandoned in the 700 block of Russell Parkway. Officials said upon examination of the vehicle by police officers, suspicions arose and attempts were made to contact the registered owner of the vehicle.
Shortly after discovering the vehicle, officers met with the victim’s mother and were able to gain access into Chaney’s apartment at Pacific Park Apartment complex.
There, officials found signs of a struggle and evidence was processed by Warner Robins Police Department Forensics.
The victim’s body was later found and is being processed, police said.
Initial contact was made with the boyfriend, who officials said was cooperating with the investigation. Later, the case was later upgraded to a homicide investigation and the man was taken into custody for probable cause.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. Other details were not immediately released, including how Chaney was killed.
The murder is one of two that occurred in Warner Robins over the weekend. Also on Saturday, a male juvenile was arrested in connection with the murder of a 14 year old male and injury to a 15 year old male following a fight. None have been identified publicly.
