Georgia cheer coach arrested, accused of sexually assaulting teen girl

According to an arrest warrant, Charles Moore was arrested last Friday for sexual exploitation of children dating back to an incident in December 2023.

WINDER, Ga. — Editor’s note: This story has been updated to clarify that Charles Moore worked at the Star Athletics in Winder before leaving a position with the Atlanta Jayhawks cheer team.

The Loganville Police Department is asking victims to come forward if they were victimized by a Walton County youth cheer coach.

According to an arrest warrant, Charles Moore was arrested last Friday for sexual exploitation of children dating back to an incident in December 2023.

The warrant states that a 16-year-old girl claimed Moore used a cell phone to film an explicit act with the minor.

According to the U.S. All Star Federation (USASF), Moore is listed on their restricted and ineligible list, citing misconduct allegations.

According to the organization, the list is created to inform the “broader sports community about individuals that could pose a potential risk.”

Some parents said Moore most recently coached at Star Athletics in Winder before leaving a position with the Atlanta Jayhawks cheer team.

“We had heard about improprieties with him,” said one mother, who didn’t want to be identified for concern for her safety. “We just had heard that he is creepy.”

When asked if she ever considered sending her daughter to Star Athletics, she said, “We looked at it briefly because so many of her friends had gone there, but the no-parent viewing area was a no for me.”

“It’s hard because there’s not a lot of cheer gyms. It’s not like baseball where you can just find another team, so as a parent, I think you just have to be super diligent,” the mother added.

According to the Walton County School District, he also served as a community cheer coach with the Walnut Grove High School cheer team up until January 2023.

Police are asking anyone who may have been victimized by Moore to contact (770) 466-8087.
