Macon gas pump catches on fire after car crashes into it, fire department says
It started as a two-car crash at 9 p.m. at 1924 Forsyth Street. That’s the Citgo gas station at the convergence of Forsyth Street and Hardman Avenue.
One of the cars crashed into a curb but another flew further and slammed into a fuel pump, which caused both the car and fuel pump to catch on fire, Edwards said.
However, the fire was extinguished when crews arrived on the scene. While there were some injuries, they were not major enough to require ambulance transport to the hospital.
At around 10:20 p.m., law enforcement and emergency services cleared the scene, leaving the owners of the gas station to take stock of the damage.
