One dead, one in critical condition after motorcycle crash in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — One person is dead after colliding with a pickup truck on Highway 87 in Monroe County Saturday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 6:10 p.m.

The passenger of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was rushed to a Macon hospital in critical condition.

The accident is still under investigation and the names of those involved have not been released.

The preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck was traveling on Highway 87 north and was attempting to turn into their driveway, when a motorcycle attempted to pass, according to the sheriff’s department.
