Missing Monroe County man found dead, sheriff’s office says



The sheriff’s office released a BOLO for him on Sept. 1. Two days later, he was found dead.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A missing Monroe County man was found dead Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. 

They say Douglas Lawson, 66, was the subject of a BOLO on Sept. 1, and was found dead two days later. 

The post says Lawson was dropped off at Larry’s Bait and Tackle near High Falls Lake on Aug. 30, 2024. He was not considering to be a danger to himself, though they say he had a history of physical and mental health issues.

Family members told 13WMAZ that Lawson had a history of strokes, and they did not know if he had his medicine with him.
