When authorities arrived, they found him inside an abandoned home suffering a gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office says

MACON, Ga. — A 19-year-old man was found shot to death inside an abandoned home off Rocky Creek Road, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office received the call at around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When deputies arrived at the 4400 block of Pinedale Drive, they say DeMario Markell Jackson was found inside the abandoned home suffering a gunshot wound.

The coroner’s office arrived on the scene and pronounced Jackson dead, the press release said.

The sheriff’s office says the circumstances of Jackson’s death are currently under investigation, and the press release did not offer any information about how long Jackson had been dead in the home or why he was shot in the first place.

The sheriff’s office says his death is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.

13WMAZ has sent a crew to the scene to hopefully learn more information. This is a developing story. We’ll provide more information when it becomes available.
