Former President Donald Trump to rally Central Georgia voters Sunday night

The rally will be held at the Atrium Health Amphitheater in Macon.

MACON, Ga. — Former President Donald Trump is set to make his final campaign pitch to the Peach State at Atrium Health Amphitheater Sunday, less than 48 hours before Election Day.

While Trump is the first presidential candidate to visit Macon, various campaign surrogates have made their rounds to Central Georgia in recent months, too.

Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz visited in September and his wife, Gwen, was canvassing in Macon on Thursday, spreading her message to voters to “keep fighting.”

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden is set to visit Macon on Saturday.

As for the Former President, he’s made appearances in Macon for previous races.

He spoke at the Macon Coliseum in 2015, then returned for two separate appearances in 2018.

This will be the former president’s first and last stop here in Macon for this election.

Bibb County GOP chairman David Sumrall says preparations are underway.

“We’re really excited, he tried to do that a couple of other times,” Sumrall said. “The hurricane and other events have prevented him from coming other times. So, saved the best for last.”

The campaign asked Sumrall to prepare 100 volunteers ahead of Sunday.

“It’ll be historic, it’s a brand new amphitheater, he hasn’t been there obviously,” Sumrall said. “I don’t expect having any trouble  to have people to volunteer to help with the event. “

Despite the rally being held next door to the Macon Mall and the Board of Elections, campaigning and political rallies are permitted as long as they are 150 ft. from any polling place, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
