Rain makes a big comeback this week!
Rain makes a big comeback this week!
We’ll get a surge of tropical moisture to produce some widespread rain for the midweek.
MACON, Ga. — The story of the week is that we will finally see some rain here in central Georgia, the first in about 35 days.
For Election Day tomorrow, we will see our warmest day of the next week. Temperatures will depend on what time our cloud cover in the morning breaks apart, so if it does later into the afternoon, temperatures will hover below the 80-degree mark, but if it is earlier, we’ll climb up into the low 80s. A slight chance of some light showers is possible once again on Tuesday, but we aren’t anticipating seeing much of anything on the radar.
Once we get to Wednesday, all eyes turn towards the tropics. Potential Tropical Cyclone Eighteen has formed in the Caribbean and is forecasted to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane as it tracks into the central Gulf of Mexico. This storm is not forecasted to make landfall near us, and it is expected to weaken briefly after gaining hurricane status. However, it will push a swath of tropical moisture into central Georgia Wednesday morning to create widespread showers some of which will be heavier. No severe weather is forecasted at this time, and this rain comes at an opportune time since we haven’t seen any rain since the end of September.
This moisture may linger around for the end of the work week into the weekend for some scattered rain chances, but ample cloud cover will also keep our temperatures more pleasant-feeling in the 70s all week long. The weekend right now looks to be one that you may have to duck-and-dodge a couple of showers.
