13-year-old girl shoots self on school bus in St. Pete, police say
The girl was reportedly the only one on the bus who had a gun, according to St. Pete police.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 13-year-old girl who attends Tyrone Middle School in St. Petersburg reportedly shot herself on a school bus Tuesday morning.
In a news release, the St. Petersburg Police Department said officers are investigating the incident at the intersection of 49th Street North and 18th Avenue. Twenty students were on the bus at that time.
The girl was the only one on the bus who had a gun and no other students were involved or hurt, police said.
The 13-year-old has been taken to All Children’s Hospital.
Some of the remaining kids were taken to school on another bus while others were picked up by parents.
