ATLANTA — A Delta flight from Atlanta to Washington D.C. was diverted on Wednesday due to “reported fumes” in the plane’s flight deck, according to the Federation Aviation Administration (FAA).
Delta flight 850 took off from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and was diverted to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) before it reached Washington D.C.- Reagan National (DCA).
Delta Air Lines said it took the precaution due to “a reported odor in the flight deck.” The FAA said the flight landed safely at Raleigh-Durham International Airport around 5 p.m.
There were 150 travelers and six crew members on board, but no one was hurt due to the incident. Passengers were expected to depart RDU at approximately 7:15 p.m. on a new plane.
“Safety is always our top priority, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels,” Delta wrote in the statement.
The FAA said it’s investigating the circumstances surrounding the fumes.
